What is Ugmonk?

What is Ugmonk? I’m never quite sure how to best answer that question as Ugmonk doesn’t fit into any one category or genre. Some people might classify it as a clothing brand, or streetwear, or a fashion brand, or products based around typography, or just simple, minimal tshirts. While Ugmonk could be called any one of these, it doesn’t really fit into just one category. Ugmonk is Ugmonk. It’s its own thing.

If you’ve been following my brand for any length of time, you know that it’s more than just tshirts. The raw products themselves aren’t necessarily unique (believe it or not, I didn’t invent the tshirt), but each product is a canvas for what Ugmonk as a whole represents – a certain shared mindset about design and simplicity. It’s the story you get to tell when you wear an Ugmonk shirt or use an Ugmonk accessory. It’s the little details that make an Ugmonk product special and separate it from the masses. It’s the connection you have with fellow Ugmonk fans (Ugmonkers?) around the globe.

There are plenty of big retailers slapping graphics on anything and everything trying to ride the trends of what’s hip this season. While I certainly want to make Ugmonk a financial success, it’s more important to me to stay true to the idea of Ugmonk as I continue to develop and refine the brand: I want the designs to stand the test of time.

Will typography on tshirts always be what Ugmonk is about? Maybe, maybe not. The product line will continue to evolve and progress as time goes on. I’ve got so many ideas that I can’t wait to bring to life. It’s exciting to think about what Ugmonk will look like a year from now or even five years from now. Hope you are just as excited to follow along on this crazy journey!

I’ve been wondering for a while now, how do you pronounce Ugmonk? I’ve been saying it as you-gee-monk. But as you were putting in a sentence it seems to be pronounced as it’s spelled, ug-monk.

Well anywho, I think you do very well in branding your product and I’m excited for more to come.

It’s already been said and it’ll be said again – I’m a huge fan of what Ugmonk is and does, and will be for some time. All the best, I’m excited for what’s to come!

Yes, the correct pronunciation is “ugg-munk” one word.

    Thanks for your support!

Solid stuff. The quality of everything put into this from the design, to the shirt, and the print itself is all incredible. I’ve been rocking the Mountain tee for the past couple of days (yes, I wear shirts for days, especially if they are awesome) and everybody has been asking about it and love it. I say all of that just to say that you’re doing a great job.

I’m really happy to have found Ugmonk and reading the story behind it has inspired me to work on my own retail, t-shirt brand. Slowly and surely I hope I can still enjoy every moment as much as I am now and look to the exciting future as you have. Cheers Ugmonk!
